About this site

My name is Dan, and Goldsounds.com is my place to experiment and publish on the web. At the moment, my interests tend towards the disruptive influence of technology on the media. Mass media theoretically represents the collective consciousness of the population that consumes it. With media consolidation the information presented to people about their own lives has narrowed due to commercial pressures and, depending on who you ask, the desire to appease governments whose actions do not always truly represent the will of the people.

New developments in technology, such as the Internet, provide radical new ways for people to talk to the rest of society about real life issues in ways that bypass mainstream media channels. It turns out, not surprisingly, that the interests of profit-maximising public companies do not always match those of the population that they are supposed to serve. Well, duh.

I am a computer programmer and generally creative type living in Melbourne, Australia.
